The plant is in the Abu Al-Shamat area of Rural Damascus near the town of Dumayr and extends over 14,000 dunams, taking in the plant area, the limestone quarries and the basalt quarries. At the plant the raw materials are crushed and ground, then prepared for firing in the kiln to give clinker, which is ground to produce Portland cement, one of the finest grades of cement.
